Herding Social Media for Technical Writing

Snap Editing is undergoing a transformation and attempting to make the leap into social media. We write everything from professional resumes, technical manuals and web content. We implemented quite a number of SEO changes in our code recently and now we are actively using Twitter and Pinterest to further increase our exposure online. This is quite the undertaking for a smaller company. What are the best strategies (from an SEO perspective) to increase followers on, for example, Twitter, without compromising white hat policies?
